How to Find Your IP Address on iPhone, Android, Windows & Mac
Find your public IP and local IP on iPhone, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and a router, with simple settings and command-line steps.
The fastest way to find your public IP is to look at the live report on this page: no settings or commands are required. To find the local address assigned to your phone or computer, use the steps below. The two addresses are different, so choose the one that matches your task before changing firewall, remote-access or network settings.
Find your public IP on any device
Open the MyIP Info home page on the connection you want to test. The large address at the top is the public IP that this website receives. The report also shows whether it is IPv4 or IPv6, the network organization and an approximate GeoIP location.
If you use a VPN, the result normally describes the VPN exit. Test another network only when it is safe and appropriate. A local device address such as 192.168.1.10 will not appear in this public report.
iPhone, iPad and Android
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Wi-Fi and tap the information button beside the connected network. The IPv4 Address section lists the device's local address and router. IPv6 information may appear separately. The labels can vary slightly by system version.
On Android, open Settings → Network & internet → Internet or Wi-Fi, then open the connected network's details. Look for IP address and Gateway. Some manufacturers place these items under Advanced or Network details. Android may also randomize the Wi-Fi MAC address; that is unrelated to your public IP.
Windows, macOS and Linux
In Windows 11, open Settings → Network & internet, select Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and open the connection properties. You can also use ipconfig in Command Prompt or PowerShell. Look for the active adapter, its IP address and Default Gateway; ignore disconnected virtual adapters.
On a Mac, open System Settings → Network, select the active connection and open Details → TCP/IP. On Linux, your desktop's network details or ip addr show will list interface addresses. ip route shows the default gateway on many distributions.

ip routeRouter address and common mistakes
The Default Gateway or Router value identifies the local router, often 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. It is not your public IP. The router's WAN or Internet status page may show the provider-facing address, which can still differ from the public result when CGNAT or another gateway is present.
Do not use a random public IP lookup result to configure a device's static local address. Local settings require a compatible subnet, gateway and non-conflicting address. For remote access, confirm whether the connection uses CGNAT and keep any exposed service updated and strongly authenticated.
Summary
Use MyIP Info for the internet-facing public address and your device settings for its local address. The router or default gateway is a third, different piece of information. Knowing which one you need prevents most IP-configuration mistakes.
